Simplifying Healthcare Accessibility
Nkomor Technologies Inc. offers a consumer healthcare solution to Africans for reliable access to essential healthcare services.
The Problem
In Ghana, limited transportation hindered healthcare accessibilities, prompting the creation of the Nkomor mobile app.
However, Nkomor's current mobile app declines in user engagement because the application is limited to certain mobile devices.
The Solution
We created a responsive website for Nkomor where users can access healthcare services with any form of device. This includes being able to book an appointment with a doctor without having to go in person, request lab test kits or book a lab test appointment and lastly, purchase health insurance online.
Steps to the Process
Establishing Information Architecture
Establishing the information architecture was crucial to allow patients to effortlessly locate services tailored to their specific requirements and access the information they need.
Task Flow Diagrams
We developed task flows to seamlessly outline the user journey, providing a clear map of the steps involved in completing each task on the platform. This not only granted us insight of each process but also served as a proactive measure to address and eliminate any potential disruptions in the user experience.
Home Page: Sign In
Scenario: As a patient with a healthcare problem I want to sign up/log in so that I can access the Nkomor healthcare services.
Appointment Booking
Scenario: As a patient with an infection I want to book a consultation with a doctor so that I can receive proper medical treatment for my condition.
Developing these task flows allowed our team to critically determine the navigation path for users on the website and created a visual map for the developers during the implementation process of the designs. Moreover, leveraging these as reference points, we made well-informed decisions regarding the layout and wireframes of the website pages.
We also created task flow diagrams for the purchase insurance services flow and the book a lab test/lab kit request flow.
Wireframes
Our team created wireframes to determine where to display the elements, icons, components and the overall layout of the website screens.
Typography
We selected Poppins as the primary typography to foster a modern aesthetic, which elevated the overall appearance of our responsive website, adding a sense of professionalism.

Header, Navigation & Footer
Header: Simplistic design approach, displaying Nkomor's brand logo, the users name and the drop-down profile navigation arrow.
Navigation: structured based on the most common services seeked by the user when visiting Nkomor.
Footer: The use of "Doormat" navigation (the first thing you see and the last thing you see) which is useful for long pages. Thus, footer includes the global navigation.

We implemented responsive designs to guarantee a smooth experience for patients on both desktop and mobile devices. This fosters increased engagement and motivates users to dive deeper into the content. Additionally, it caters to individuals with diverse technological preferences and varying infrastructure.
